losing weight

Five ways losing weight will help you in business.

People often ask me why I am so specific in targeting the people I help. It’s because there is a significant problem among entrepreneurs; You’re all getting fat. It’s the desk lifestyle for most. If you are focusing on losing weight, contact me now. What comes with starting a business in ANY walk of life, desk or not, is the sudden reliance on long hours, feeding your passion and your thirst for success.

But it also often leads to unwanted weight gain. When this happens, you suddenly find that things deteriorate and building a business gets harder. You also start the timer on a decline into preventable disease. And that’s going to put a significant limiter on how successful your business is going to be, because you simply won’t be there to work on it longer term…

So here’s five reasons you need to shape up to shape up your business too…

1. You’ll get more energy.

Business is exhausting. You have to have about a million different brains for a million different tasks. And yet we all know the familiar feeling when the alarm clock goes off and we just want to roll over, press snooze and say “not today thanks”. We limp to the coffee machine and beg for alertness. But the truth is, relying on caffeine and sugar to keep you wake is a temporary lift. It’s a lifestyle that fuels spiralling energy levels and we pay for the short-term kick MASSIVELY in the long term. Improving health and our approaches to nutrition not only helps us to lose weight, but helps lift energy levels. Listen energy levels mean improved focus, improved productivity and better business.

2. You’ll have more time.

Here’s one you haven’t heard before; if I lose weight I gain time?! How the heck does that work?! Because weight loss with me isn’t about counting calories. It’s about moving the barriers that have prevented long term weight loss before. One of the big things we do as entrepreneurs is become really rubbish at managing our time and priorities. We live for the “cram” and think we can shoe horn everything into a single block of 24hours if we can just cut down on sleep, grab some fast food and live off the coffee for a few days…you know what’s way better for you and your business? Enjoying the process! Learning how to enjoy the freedom we’re creating even BEFORE we’ve created the business we’ve dreamed of. After all, isn’t that why you started?

3. You’ll be more confident at networking.

One happy side effect of looking after yourself, is you automatically start to look better. Even before you’ve lost weight, when you get your life sorted out (yes, that is a service I provide believe it or not…), you stand a bit taller, you smile a bit more, you suddenly start to pull out that nice shirt you haven’t worn in a while and oiling your beard feels like an essential, because you are a dapper, dapper man… So when you rock up to that networking event you were dreading, instead of lurking in a corner clutching a few free drinks and some canapés to try and stay out of the limelight but magically gain some clients, you become a little bit more interesting. Conversation flows freely in your presence and you have the confidence to make the approaches and ask the questions you really need to, to get that progress in your business.

4. You start to drown out your imposter syndrome.

Imposter syndrome strikes us all as start ups. And even when we get better at what we do and start to climb toward the top of the tree, we still have that nagging little voice that tells us we’ve no idea what we’re doing and we should just give up now before they find out “the truth”. But when we start to focus on our health and our mindset, when we start to realise we’re capable of doing things – capable of reaching those self-improvement goals, we feel empowered. It doesn’t mean we’re suddenly rid of those little voices completely, but it does help. Focusing on your weight loss helps you to realise you are capable of great things, you can achieve things you put your mind to and you’re worthy of being where you are.

5. You’ll feel “less lardy and disgusting”.

Still one of my favourite testimonial quotes from a client. She said that the biggest thing taking part in my weight loss programme and done for her, is help her not to feel disgusted when she looked in the mirror. It had done all the above for her, but it had also made her more comfortable with who she saw in the mirror. And of course, who is more inviting to new clients? The one who looks at themselves and says “Yeah, I’m a bit of alright!” or the one who can’t look in the mirror because the reflection is too scary…?

Weight loss isn’t about getting a six pack, reducing your body fat percentage to that of something from a sports magazine photo shoot. It’s about improving your health, your confidence and your ability to perform as a business owner. The world needs what you have to offer it, but you need to make sure you’re in the peak possible shape to give that gift!
