The Professionals.

The (make up free!) face of a published author!

To give real service you must add something which cannot be bought or measured with money, and that is sincerity and integrity.

Douglas Adams

As some of you will have seen already, I recently had my very first article published in a professional journal. I had seen a problem my colleagues in the profession were trying to overcome and realised I had the knowledge, skills and experience to help. So I wrote a piece on the subject, submitted it to this journal and to my delight, the editor loved it. A month later, it appeared in print with my name and thumbnail on it.

So…?

The Aesthetics Journal is a leading publication, read by aesthetic doctors and medics across the UK. We use it as a point of reference to find out what’s going on in the sector and help with our continued improvement in clinical techniques and knowledge – which is essential throughout our career in order to keep ensuring the best standards of patient safety and results. This means that professionals everywhere have been able to read my article and take advice from it.

As part of this evolving, cutting edge sector, I am committed to striving for a safer, better aesthetics field; this means more regulation and guidance for professionals and a clearer, less daunting world for you to navigate. As a dentist, I am used to spending plenty of time outside of work ensuring my skills are up to date and aesthetics for me, is no different in this sense. Creating blogs for you, writing articles for professionals, attending training courses for new products and constantly refreshing my existing skills takes up a lot of my time. Most of the extra-curricular hours I put in are completely optional and I opt in purely because I love what I do and I have a burning desire to be the best possible practitioner I can be. Why? Because you deserve it. Because aesthetics needs professionals to set standards and keep you safe. Because the values I hold true to my work are honesty, integrity and respect for both my colleagues and my clients.

Choose The Professionals.

I guess what I’m trying to say is, there are plenty of people out there providing lip fillers and anti-wrinkle treatments. They’re probably going to give you a better price than I will. You’ll probably be able to get an appointment more easily. They might even do you a discount if you bring a mate along. If that’s what is important to you, then I have failed. Because if this is what is important to you, then I have not helped you understand how much more your face is worth.

I’m not the cheapest, nor the most available for appointments, nor do I do discounts. But I will always be honest with you about your treatment. I will always respect your opinions, your goals, your values. I will always be committed to keeping you safe and healthy. And I will continue to spend my Saturdays writing blogs for you, gaining further qualifications for myself and helping my colleagues.

So whoever you consider for your facial aesthetics treatment:

  • Make sure they have medical training (doctors, dentists, nurses)
  • Don’t be swayed by price
  • Make sure you understand the risks and benefits of your treatment – don’t feel pressured into treatment and make sure you take all the thinking time you need as well as asking all the questions you want answers to
  • Find out what emergency care is in place
  • Trust your gut – if something sounds too good to be true, it IS.
